I finally got out today to paint Plein Air we had so much rain. Flowers are out, The pink ice plant is not out yet, but the yellow mustard blooming, and the pride Madera in full bloom. I have a hard time painting small today. I did 45 wide by 39. I had to work fast to work on such a large canvas. Put finishing color notes in my studio.

Another layer of paint… on both paintings. I start very fast but now I slow down putting color notes and working on my shapes. Doing figure work is not as forgiving as trees. But I am loving doing this 😅 Back at it tomorrow… hoping to paint Plein air in the morning the sun is forecast to be out all day tomorrow before the rain returns on Friday.

Today was a easy and happy plein air painting experience, I went out about a 1 o’clock which normally I don’t like to go when the sun is straight up. I wanted to paint this garden that Carmel care foundation has Recently redid. Working with Dale and will be giving a 24x36 canvas enhance print of for an auction. Carmel Cares foundation is amazing all volunteer help cleaning along scenic and throughout Carmel. I will finished the painting in my studio checking my edges values and a few more color notes. I was painting in direct sun so sometimes paintings become a little darker especially with acrylics.
Today I didn’t know where I was going to paint, so I drove down towards Big Sur a little bit and realize it was a windy day so I turned around and went to Carmel beach. When I first got there it wasn’t windy and I had plan to do a 40 x 30 and the wind picked up so I changed my easel to my Anderson easel which can take some wind but it was way too windy for that. I was determined to paint so I did a smaller piece 13x32 😅
On the easel 31x40 went on a trip with my Brother Tal last week and I do drive by photos and saw this scene along 152. Sky was so blue Against the golden hills with oaks. The iPhone photos are so amazing that you’re able to capture scenes driving 70 miles an hour. of course I was not driving 😅

Work another day on my 40x60 Plein air late afternoon. This was the fourth time out with it at the highlands overlook. I will finish in my studio now, it was great fun to work so large Plein air.
